Method 1: Sideloading the app
Prepare Your Android Phone for Sideloading APKs
Sideloading means installing an app from outside the Google Play Store. Android blocks this by default for safety, so you need to turn on a setting. Don't worry, we'll do it only for your browser.

- If it asks for confirmation, tap **Allow**.
- Done! This only allows installs from your browser, not everything.
TIP: If you mess up, just search "enable unknown apps [your phone model]" in Google on your phone for pictures.
Step 2: Go to APKMirror Website on Your Phone
- Open your web browser (Chrome).
- In the address bar at the top, type **www.apkmirror.com** and tap Go or Enter.
- If it asks about cookies or ads, just tap OK or Accept—it's safe.
- Once the site loads, look for the search bar at the top (it says "Search APKMirror").
- Type **IKEA** and tap the search icon (magnifying glass).
TIP: Make sure you're on Wi-Fi to save data, and don't click random ads
Step 3: Find the Right IKEA App
- In the search results, look for *the correct IKEA app you're after by **Inter IKEA Systems B.V.** (that's the official developer—ignore anything else like games or fakes).
- Tap on it to go to the app's page.
- On that page, scroll down to see versions. Look for the latest one and open its details.
TIP: Always pick the newest one at the top. APKMirror verifies apps, so it's safe.
Step 4: Download the APK File
- On the version page, scroll down to the "Variants" or download section.
- Tap **Download APK** next to it.
- It might show an ad or say "Wait 15 seconds" if you have an ad blocker— just wait or tap to skip.
- When it asks where to save, tap **Download** or OK.
- The file will download.
- You'll see a notification when it's done (pull down from the top of your screen).
TIP: If it asks "This type of file can harm your device," tap **OK** anyway—APKMirror is trusted and scans for viruses. For Italy-specific features, the app is global, but you can set your language to Italian in the app settings later (or change your phone's language: Settings > System > Languages > Add Italian and set as primary).
Step 5: Install the APK
- Once downloaded, tap the notification that says "Download complete" or the file name (something like "com.ikea.app-4.22.0.apk").
- If no notification, open your **Files** or **Downloads** app (search for it in your app drawer), find the APK file in the Downloads folder, and tap it.
- Your phone will show an install screen. Tap **Install** at the bottom.
- If it asks for permissions (like storage or location), tap **Allow** or Continue.
- Wait 10-30 seconds for it to install.
- When done, tap **Open** to launch the app, or **Done** to finish.
TIP If install is blocked, go back to Step 1 and double-check the "Allow from this source" is on for your browser or file manager. Restart your phone if stuck.
Step 6: Set Up and Use the App
- Open the IKEA app from your home screen or app drawer.
- It might ask to sign in, pick a country, or allow location—choose **Italy** if available (since you want the Italian version).
- If the app is in English, go to app settings (usually a profile icon or menu) and change language to Italian.
- Browse products! The catalog might auto-detect based on your location or VPN (if you use one set to Italy).
*TIP: If the app doesn't show Italian stuff, try using a VPN app (download from Play Store, like NordVPN), connect to an Italian server, then open IKEA app. Uninstall and reinstall if needed.
Important Warnings

This lets you access the Italian or US store without affecting your primary Malta account. You can switch between accounts in the Play Store.
- Connect to VPN: Same as above—use an Italian server.
- Create a New Google Account:
- Open a browser (Chrome recommended) and go to accounts.google.com/signup.
- Fill in details, but under Country/Region, select Italy or United States.
- Complete verification (phone number optional; use a Maltese one if needed).
- Skip adding a payment method for now.
- Add the Account to Your Phone:
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Add account > Google.
- Sign in with the new Italian or US based account.
- Clear Play Store Cache and Data: Same steps as Method 1, Step 2.
- Switch to New Account in Play Store:
- Open Google Play Store.
- Tap your profile icon (top right) and select the new Italian or US account.
- If prompted, update the app.
- Set Up Italian or US Profile:
- Go to Settings > General > Account and device preferences > Country and profiles.
- Select the new account's profile and add Italy or the US (it should detect via VPN).
- Install IKEA App:
- Search "IKEA" and install. It will download the Italian or US version.
- To switch back to Malta later: Tap profile icon > Switch to your main account.
